Data Theorem Products Win Multiple Govies Government Security Awards

Independent Panel of Judges Honors Supply Chain Secure with Top Application Security Award; Cloud Secure Earns Gold Award in Cloud Solutions & Services Awards Category

Data Theorem, Inc., a leading provider of modern application security, today announced that its Supply Chain Secure and Cloud Secure products have won multiple awards in the 2023 Govies Government Security Awards competition, as announced by Security Today magazine, the only integrated product and technology magazine reaching the entire security market, and securitytoday.com, the preeminent editorial website for the security industry.

The Govies awards honor outstanding government security products in a variety of categories. Data Theorem’s Supply Chain Secure solution won the top Platinum Award in the Application Security awards category, while its Cloud Secure solution earned the Gold Award in the Cloud Solutions & Services awards category.

1105 Media launched its government security awards program in 2009. In 2011, this successful program became known as The Govies. As security continues to be a concern in government institutions, the security industry continues to respond with strong solutions. An independent panel of judges from the security industry selected the top entries in the 2023 categories and named winners using criteria including Features, Innovation, User Friendliness, Interoperability, Quality, Design, Market Opportunity, and Impact in the Security Industry, Technical Advances, and Scalability.

“We are pleased to earn these multiple recognitions in the Govies Government Security Awards Program, particularly since the winners were decided by a distinguished panel of global security industry experts,” said Doug Dooley, Data Theorem COO. “The Government sector is an important, growing vertical market for us. Data Theorem uniquely protects government organizations’ cloud applications in multi-cloud environments due to the benefits of our dynamic and run-time analysis with offensive attack surface management (ASM) and active protection with observability. This enables them to conduct continuous, automated security inspection, application telemetry collection, and run-time protection of their most important cloud-native applications.”

Launched in May 2022, Data Theorem’s Supply Chain Secure is the industry’s first attack surface management (ASM) product to address software supply chain security threats across the application full-stack of APIs, cloud services, SDKs, and open source software. Data Theorem uniquely identifies third-party vulnerabilities across the application software stack with continuous runtime analysis and dynamic inventory discovery that goes beyond traditional source code static analysis approaches and processing of software bill of materials (SBOMs).

Cloud Secure is a Cloud-Native Application Protection Platform (CNAPP) with attack surface management (ASM) and a complete AppSec suite all-in-one. It protects cloud services and any cloud-native application by preventing data breaches sourced by cloud assets and API services. It hacks the cloud with Cloud ASM on a daily basis in search of security vulnerabilities that can lead to data breaches. It also monitors cloud configurations using a variety of security posture management techniques such as CSPM, KSPM, ASPM, and CIEM; while monitoring microservices, serverless functions, key stores/vaults, virtual machines, containers, storage assets, and databases using AppSec tools such as SAST/DAST/IAST/SCA. Data Theorem’s Cloud Analyzer Engine continuously discovers vulnerabilities in multi-cloud environments and provides mitigation solutions in real time.

“Every imaginable security solution can be found in a government application, whether it be federal or state facilities. I truly appreciate all those who have participated in The Govies 2023, and I am amazed at the technology and product improvements year over year,” said Ralph C. Jensen, publisher of Security Today magazine. “It is always enjoyable to engage with manufacturers and end users in the security industry. There is an excitement again, particularly after the pandemic, around what is happening in the security world, and what is possible.”

In addition to receiving awards, the Govies winners will be featured on securitytoday.com and highlighted in a future magazine issue.

Data Theorem’s broad AppSec portfolio protects organizations from data breaches with application security testing and protection for modern web frameworks, API-driven microservices and cloud resources. Its solutions are powered by its award-winning Analyzer Engine, which leverages a new type of dynamic and runtime analysis that is fully integrated into the CI/CD process, and enables organizations to conduct continuous, automated security inspection and remediation. Data Theorem is one of the first vendors to provide a full stack application security analyzer that connects attack surfaces of applications starting at the client layers found in mobile and web, the network layers found in APIs, and the infrastructure layers found in cloud services.
