Wireless Logic enables Ocucon’s occupancy management solution for essential UK retail

Hurley, United Kingdom – 2 February 2021 – Wireless Logic, a leading global IoT connectivity platform provider, today revealed the crucial role it played in developing a ‘traffic light’ system for Aldi in the UK, in order to manage crowd flow and occupancy in the wake of COVID-19. Delivered by Ocucon, a specialist in security technology solutions, the groundbreaking intelligent occupancy management system has revolutionised the approach to retail through social distancing guidelines.

Ocucon was enlisted to install a system that could effectively manage customer numbers in line with new social distancing guidelines. Ocucon had the technology to deliver the CCTV set-up, but needed Wireless Logic’s support and expertise to eliminate on-site maintenance and manage configuration and support remotely.

Simon Gardner, Head of Operations at Ocucon explains: “Combining our CCTV technology and Wireless Logic’s solution meant that engineers only needed to install the cameras and 4G routers, and all other management could be done remotely. This enabled the system to be rolled out quickly, meeting demand across the country.”

Oliver Tucker, CEO at Wireless Logic, commented: “Using SIMPro – our SIM management platform that has the ability to view and control SIMs across multiple networks in one customisable window – Wireless Logic was proud to support Ocucon in delivering a hugely successful occupancy management system that allowed Aldi to operate more safely and efficiently.”

Simon concluded: “The system may have been created as a solution to a challenge posed by COVID-19, but it’s not one that’s going to go away any time soon. There is a clear demand from supermarket chains for systems that help manage occupancy and crowd flow, which means more opportunities for businesses like Ocucon. Furthermore, the recent development of the Occupi Dashboard with an application programming interface (API), allows retailers to extract data on a store-by-store basis, providing really valuable business intelligence. We wouldn’t have been able to realise this ambitious project without the support of Wireless Logic, who was able to effortlessly meet our demands and quick turnaround times.”
