Report: 50% of Companies Expect AI to Enhance Global Communication

New data shows 54% of leaders believe translation is the future of AI

According to new research from Language I/O, a global leader in AI translation solutions, most business leaders now see real-time translation as their most urgent AI need. The 2025 global study reveals that 54% of enterprises rank translation technology as their top AI priority, as companies struggle with accuracy, security and growing demand for seamless communication across languages.

Language I/O, in partnership with Brandata, surveyed 1,089 business leaders across North America and EMEA (representing the U.S., Germany, the U.K., South Africa and Canada) to uncover how enterprises with 5,000+ employees are navigating these complex challenges. Key findings reveal:

  • Language barriers significantly disrupt customer support (45%) and employee training (32%), impacting retention and operational efficiency.
  • 34% already utilize AI tools for language tasks, 40% expect advancements in text-to-speech translation and 36% anticipate multilingual chatbots.
  • As AI adoption soars, accuracy and cultural relevance remain top concerns for 35% of enterprises, alongside cost and security.

“This research confirms what we’ve been seeing across industries: language barriers are no longer acceptable in today’s global economy,” said Heather Morgan Shoemaker, founder and CEO of Language I/O. “As AI capabilities expand, business leaders recognize that real-time, accurate translation is essential infrastructure. Our technology enables companies to bridge language, opening up time to focus on what matters most: meaningful connections with customers and partners worldwide.”

AI is a top use case for translation, making human conversations more meaningful than ever before. That being said, nearly 60% of enterprises anticipate a collaborative future where AI enhances—not replaces—human expertise, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach. Consequently, collaborative AI models, instead of pure automation, will be the cornerstone of successful multilingual strategies and customer service.
