Shakespeare.diy, an AI-powered website builder that operates entirely on decentralized protocols, launched on Thursday at an event hosted by the Human Rights Foundation. Developed by Alex Gleason, the tool allows users to build and deploy websites using natural language and a friendly web-based interface.

Shakespeare emerges as an open-source challenger to proprietary AI-based website builders. While those platforms offer convenience, they come with trade-offs: vendor lock-in, surveillance, proprietary ecosystems, and the loss of ownership. Shakespeare flips the model by giving users:
