Srivatsan Mohan from Empuls talks about the criticality of data privacy and compliance in today’s digital world and how Empuls prioritizes them for its customers.
1. Tell us about yourself and your role at Empuls.io.
I am a seasoned engineer and entrepreneur with experience in cloud and mobile technologies. As the Co-Founder and Chief technology Officer at Empuls and am responsible for product development and system design.
2. Can you venture your journey into the market for our Audience?
We are an early stage startup in the employee engagement space. We identified a gap in the market for a holistic employee engagement platform that can cater to small and mid-size businesses (SMBs). We are seeing great adoption in the market and the product is scaling up.
3. What according to you are the top Privacy & Compliance trends ruling the Market?
We are seeing more clients worried about data localization and user privacy in general. Even though we are in the B2B space and serving the employees of an organization, protection of employee personal information (PII) is our priority. There is also a trend on data localization that is growing in the market wherein clients are asking for their data to be located in their own geography.
4. What is that one unique benefit that Empuls.io brings to its customers wrt data privacy?
5. What is the next big HRTech & Compliance related innovation that Empuls.io is eyeing upon?
We are eyeing the CPRA compliance next. In addition to CPRA, we also aim to be SOC certified. Empuls will also allow data centers across different geographies to cater to the data localization needs of its customers.
6. How, according to you, technology is bringing change in the Cybersecurity Sector?
Cyber security is always a cat and mouse game. Threat has become significantly more innovative and penetrative over the past few years. But defense has also caught up. AI/ML provides adaptive learning capabilities to defensive layers thereby providing the critical defense infrastructure against cyber threats.
7. As an Evolution Curve, can you take us through the journey of change that Empuls.io was able to bring to the Employee Engagement arena over the years?
In a sea of employee engagement solutions, Empuls stands out as a platform that provides a holistic approach to solving disengagement, through multi-dimensional employee engagement.SMBs cannot afford to have a complex HR tech ecosystem, whether it’s due to legacy systems or a web of multiple systems to solve the same problem. Empuls cuts through the complexity by combining the functionalities of multiple standalone solutions for recognition, rewards, surveys, and the social intranet, into one robust platform. This makes it easy for SMBs to engage their teams, who are the driving force powering business growth.
8. Can you share one story through which Empuls.io was able to solve a complex problem with its customized approach for one of its clients?
During the early days of the COVID pandemic, almost all companies had to re-imagine employee communication and engagement. Most of our clients used the groups and surveys features in the Empuls platform to share critical updates, gather COVID test and vaccination data, and comply with critical government regulations related to COVID. Additionally, remote employee motivation and morale was low due to a feeling of disconnectedness. We saw companies increase usage of the digital recognition and rewards capabilities to motivate employees in a timely and frequent manner. Empuls digital surveys were extensively used to gauge employee sentiment so companies can take necessary steps to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of employees.
