John Watters Joins Metabase Q’s Board of Directors

Metabase Q, the leading end-to-end cybersecurity platform for companies in Latin America, today announced that John Watters, an internationally recognized cybersecurity visionary and leader, has joined the company’s Board of Directors as an independent board member and investor. This appointment follows Metabase Q’s recent funding from SYN Ventures, the only VC firm founded and led exclusively by former Fortune 500 CISOs and C-level security executives.

Watters brings 20 years of cybersecurity leadership, including extensive experience driving operational excellence and scaling organizations globally. Currently, Watters serves as the President and COO of Mandiant (NASDAQ: MNDT), now being acquired by Google in a $5.4 billion transaction. He also served in many vital roles across the company, including Chairman of the FireEye Advisory Board, EVP and Chief Strategy Officer, EVP of Global Services and Intelligence, and President of the iSight division. Before then, he founded and was CEO of iSIGHT Partners for 10 years until its acquisition by FireEye. His previous company, iDEFENSE, was a security intelligence firm acquired by Verisign in 2005. He has invested in and/or served on the Boards of several impactful cybersecurity companies, including TippingPoint, Archer Technologies, Netwitness, ThreatGrid, and others. His experience and skills will greatly enhance Metabase Q’s ability to establish a new approach to managed services.

“Metabase Q is one of those rare companies that has the opportunity to not only create significant value for its customers, employees, and shareholders, but is also poised to create an incredibly important cybersecurity company serving the LATAM community,” said Watters. “We are aligned on our mission and I’m excited to help the team execute on their strategy.”

Metabase Q was built with the belief that consumer trust in services and products is core to business. However, as companies accelerate their innovation plans to participate in the digital economy, their security often lags behind. This problem is greatly exacerbated in developing regions, such as Latin America, with a nascent cybersecurity ecosystem. Metabase Q leveraged lessons learned globally and is rapidly improving the cybersecurity ecosystem on a company and regional level. Metabase Q pioneered a faster and more efficient model of cybersecurity managed services to enhance security and drive regional collective defense through shared threat intelligence and regulatory best-practices.

“John has long been a visionary in cybersecurity and has consistently led companies to generate predictable revenue and profitable growth,” said Mauricio Benavides, CEO and Co-founder of Metabase Q. “His decision to join our Board validates our mission and need in the market.”
