Industry Veteran and Former Wall Street Security Executive To Lead Company’s Information Security Strategy
Appfire, a leading provider of software that helps teams solve modern challenges with digital solutions, announced today that it has appointed Doug Kersten as Chief Information Security Officer. As an industry veteran and strategic, tactical, and hands-on leader, Kersten has been instrumental in instilling a positive security culture within fast-paced organizations. He will continue to propel forward Appfire’s security and data privacy programs, aligning to security best practices as the company grows and scales.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of such a dynamic and fast-growing organization,” said Kersten. “Appfire’s commitment to innovation has been unmatched within the software development community, and I look forward to using my experience to deliver a resilient security program for our fast-growing organization and customer base.”
Kersten brings more than two decades of security leadership experience to his role, having led IT and security programs for some of the world’s top financial institutions and law firms. While working for the New York Stock Exchange, Kersten assisted in the design and implementation of the first wireless trading network on the stock exchange floor and led information security risk committees in identifying proposed risk mitigation strategies. Most recently, Kersten served as CISO for iCIMS, an all-in-one talent Cloud platform, where he implemented a comprehensive security program that supported a major equity investment and IPO filing.
“Doug brings a sophisticated security mindset and a wealth of experience to the Appfire leadership team during an exciting time,” said Bob Nicholson, President and COO of Appfire. “With Doug’s expertise and strong alignment to our values, he’ll continue our efforts to invest in our people and digital solutions, creating more value for all stakeholders across the board.”
In his role, Kersten will help Appfire continue to lead the way in Cloud security for the Atlassian ecosystem and software developer community at large. His efforts will also complement the One Appfire initiative to bring all acquired apps under a single Appfire brand and prepare the company for future acquisitions as well by standardizing security features across the company’s many products. Kersten’s appointment comes shortly after Appfire reported annual recurring revenues surpassing $100 million.
