RSA Conference 2021 – Virsec, the industry leader in application-aware workload protection, today announced that Founder and Chief Technology Officer Satya Gupta has been named CTO of the Year in the 2021 Global InfoSec Awards.
In its ninth year, the Cyber Defense Magazine Global InfoSec Awards recognize companies in the information security space who demonstrate a unique and compelling value proposition for their executives, products, or services. Gupta was selected for his work in helping the industry change its thinking about traditional cybersecurity solutions and accept that modern threats demand a more robust and proactive solution.

Gupta, Virsec’s visionary founder, is tireless in his contributions to advancing cybersecurity innovation, standards, technologies, and education throughout the industry. He is a technology leader who holds more than 40 patents in complex firmware architecture with products deployed to hundreds of thousands of users. His unique viewpoint on the limitations of traditional cybersecurity solutions propelled him to pioneer a solution that would force the industry to reimagine security and focus on protection from the inside, where it matters most.

With more than 25 years of expertise in embedded systems, network security, and systems architecture, Gupta has helped build and guide Virsec from initial funding in 2015 to launching an enterprise-class application-aware workload protection solution in 2019. He holds a BS degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur and additional degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
