athenahealth Ranks No. 1 in Ambulatory EMR

Awards demonstrate customers’ high level of satisfaction using athenahealth solutions

athenahealth, Inc., a leading provider of network-enabled software and services for medical groups and health systems nationwide, today announced that the 2022 Best in KLAS: Software and Services report ranked athenaClinicals® the top-performing Ambulatory EMR solution (11-75 physicians) and athenaIDX™ the top-performing practice management solution (76+ physicians). This is the 20th consecutive year that athenahealth has ranked first in a Best in KLAS category.

The Best in KLAS designation is awarded to top-performing solutions based on customer satisfaction, and rankings are a direct result of the feedback from 30,000 interviews each year. These awards highlight athenahealth’s commitment to delivering outstanding support to clinicians, allowing them to focus on caring for patients, and helping healthcare organizations improve their financial performance.

“We are proud to see our commitment to our customers and to transforming the delivery of healthcare reflected in this recognition from KLAS,” said Bob Segert, chairman and CEO of athenahealth. “athenahealth is dedicated to constant innovation and developing modern, dynamic technology that delivers a superior experience for healthcare organizations of all sizes. We look forward to continuing to support our customers as we realize our vision to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.”

athenaClinicals is a mobile-friendly electronic health records solution (EHR) that helps providers maximize clinical productivity and focus on delivering high-quality care to patients anytime, anywhere care is provided. It is part of athenaOne®, athenahealth’s comprehensive cloud-based suite of EHR, healthcare payments, and patient engagement services, which is connected to the nation’s largest clinical network to give physicians and their staff a more complete view of their patients and foster data-driven decision-making at the clinical level.

“Switching to athenaOne has resulted in numerous improvements for our organization,” said Tabby Huddleston, chief operating officer and clinical director of Greenhouse Mental Health, a mental and behavioral healthcare services provider for senior citizens in long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living, and rehabilitation facilities. “The customizable templates help us record each visit efficiently; our providers haven’t had this kind of structure and convenience in the EHR before. Clinician satisfaction has improved, and they are now able to complete charting by the end of the patient visit.”

athenaIDX is an enterprise-ready, interoperable revenue cycle management solution that helps health systems, hospitals, large practices, and billing service organizations optimize financial performance and manage value-based care. Tailorable to complex organizations’ needs, athenaIDX helps lower their cost to collect and reduce days in accounts receivable through low-touch, automated workflows.

“The data-rich environment of athenaIDX and its outstanding customer support helped us achieve national recognition for our cost and revenue operations,” said Jonathan Moss, director of medical practice business services, Baystate Medical Practices. “The revenue data that athenaIDX provides gives us deep visibility into performance across the enterprise, and it has also helped us track and drive employee productivity. These statistics are extraordinarily valuable to making improvements across our medical practices and continually fine-tuning our organization’s profitability.”

In addition, while athenaTelehealth is a new offering that became commercially available in 2021 and not yet rated in the Best in KLAS awards, athenahealth is pleased to report that the virtual care solution is currently ranked in the top three of the EMR-Centric Virtual Care Platforms Comparison, leading for strong customer delivery.

“The Best in KLAS report and the awards it contains set the standard of excellence for software and services firms,” said Adam Gale, KLAS CEO. “Vendors who win the title of Best in KLAS should celebrate and remember that providers now accept only the best from their products and services. The Best in KLAS award serves as a signal to provider and payer organizations that they should expect excellence from the winning vendors.”

athenahealth will accept these awards during the Best in KLAS Show 2022 on Monday, March 14, and will be exhibiting in booth 6143 during the HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Fla.
