Cloud-based Glowforge Hires Megan Lutes as General Counsel

Lutes Brings Experience Leading Best in Class Legal Teams For High-Growth Companies

Glowforge, the Seattle-based company that designs and produces iconic 3D laser printers for home and small business use, today announced that it has hired Megan Lutes as general counsel. Lutes joins the leadership team at Glowforge at a period of rapid growth and will lead the company’s legal function.

“Glowforge has a vision to create a world where anyone can print anything,” said Glowforge founder and CEO, Dan Shapiro. “This is a big vision that has led us to rapid growth and allowed us to develop a large and enthusiastic customer base, but there is a lot of work ahead to make that vision a reality. Megan understands the world of high-growth companies and has led best in class legal teams to help them meet ambitious goals.”

Lutes comes to Glowforge from Seattle-based Convoy, Inc., the most efficient digital freight network, which uses machine learning to connect shippers and carriers to move millions of truckloads of goods, enhancing efficiency and reducing carbon waste. Her background includes both law firm and in-house experience, leading teams to support commercial transactions, complex negotiations, and domestic and international employment matters, among others.

Prior to Convoy, Lutes held senior legal positions with Moss Adams, one of the country’s largest public accounting firms, and global logistics company Expeditors International. She serves on the board of directors for Providence Pediatric Hospice of Seattle, and the executive board of Centerforce. She was awarded the 2021 “Legal MVP Award” by SimpleLegal for Inhouse Attorneys, and the Women, Influence & Power in Law Innovation Leadership Award by the Corporate Counsel in Leadership group. Megan holds a Juris Doctor Degree from Seattle University School of Law, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice and Political Science from Gonzaga University.

“I’m excited to be joining such an innovative and transformative company as Glowforge,” said Lutes. “Great ambitions can bring with them great challenges, and I’m looking forward to working with Dan and the rest of the leadership team to meet these challenges as we help our users reimagine the way everyday items can be made.”
