MDT named Tech CUSO of the Year

CUSO acknowledged by Finopotamus for supporting the credit union community

Member Driven Technologies (MDT), a CUSO that hosts the Symitar core processing system from Jack Henry to provide a private cloud alternative for core processing and IT needs, has been recognized as a Finopotamus Tech CUSO of the Year. This annual award series, co-sponsored by Credit Union tech-talk, honors significant achievement in credit union technology from the previous calendar year.

MDT serves nearly 120 credit unions across the country, representing over two million members and $29 billion in total assets. Since it was founded 20 years ago, MDT has continually modernized its infrastructure, ensuring that it can scale as credit union clients grow and evolve. This unique approach to data processing boosts security and significantly reduces the resources required to host IT services in-house, while still allowing clients to maintain control over their critical data. MDT is known for exceptional service and client satisfaction; the CUSO has a 97% retention rate for credit union clients.

“The 2023 Finopotamus Tekkie Awards recognize outstanding technology achievements in the credit union industry from 2022,” said Finopotamus Co-Founder W.B. King. “Founding partners John San Filippo and Roy Urrico and I agreed that in the category of Tech CUSO of the Year, MDT’s longstanding commitment to the credit union industry, along with the CUSO continually modernizing its tech infrastructure, made it stand out from the competition.” King added that for the first time in Tekkie history, MDT tied for first place in the category with Glia Technologies.

In addition to the core banking platform, MDT offers dozens of seamlessly integrated solutions and supporting services to help run the entire institution, such as digital banking, payments, lending, cybersecurity and imaging. Not just a technology provider, the CUSO also offers consulting services around project management, data analytics, M&A activity, digital transformation and more. MDT prioritizes openness and choice, helping credit unions bridge into the fintech space in a way that’s secure and minimizes risk.

“From our technology to our people to our culture, at MDT we strive to truly embody the ‘people helping people’ philosophy,” said Larry Nichols, CEO and president of MDT. “We’ve helped hundreds of credit unions across the nation access the modern technology needed to make a difference and succeed while also assisting our clients in navigating the increasingly crowded and complex fintech jungle. We’re honored to be recognized by Finopotamus as the 2023 Tech CUSO of the Year.”
