GenAI-powered Care Assistant will help meet patient needs, with escalation to virtual and floor nurses as required
Oneview Healthcare today introduced Ovie, an innovative new GenAI product that provides personalized, real-time support for patients and families throughout their hospital stay.
Ovie helps reduce interruptions for nurses, and improves communication, by giving patients and family members a secure, personalized voice assistant for common questions and requests. Integrated with the Electronic Health Record and other hospital systems, Ovie understands the patient’s context, and can respond to questions like “Hey Ovie, when can I go home” or “Hey Ovie, what are the side-effects of my medication?” For patients and families with limited English proficiency, Ovie will answer in their preferred language, improving accessibility and engagement. If a request requires further support, Ovie’s escalation workflows ensure the patient is connected to a virtual nurse or, when necessary, a floor nurse—helping to streamline communication while prioritizing patient care.
The Care Assistant will include the following features:
- 24/7 virtual assistance, answering common patient and family queries
- Control over the Oneview system, including voice-activated digital whiteboard
- Seamless integration with leading EHRs, for personalized responses
- Integration with clinical knowledge bases for authoritative information
- Escalation to virtual nurses and floor nurses, when appropriate
- Future support for multiple languages, ensuring accessible communication for diverse patient populations.

Ovie will debut at the ViVE and HIMSS trade shows. The first production pilots with two leading academic teaching hospitals in the United States are already scheduled. To ensure safe and responsible AI, Oneview will complete these commercial pilots before the full market launch, incorporating patient and clinical feedback into the final product. Oneview has also built out a robust AI governance framework, as the foundation for the development of this product, to assure the safe and responsible performance of AI.
