Leading clinical insights platform names new advisory board
Regard, the leading clinical insights platform empowering clinicians to unlock the full potential of patient data, announced today it has surpassed five million diagnoses. Regard analyzes the entire medical record to recommend diagnoses that underpin its proactive documentation for clinicians.
In this data-driven era, physicians are facing data overload, increasing the risk of errors and making it harder to provide personalized and accurate care. According to recent research published in JAMA, nearly 800,000 people die or are permanently disabled each year due to diagnostic errors made in clinical settings. Even the most skilled physicians don’t have enough time to pour through the data and documentation in the EHR before seeing a patient, making it easier to miss a critical diagnosis.
In the last year, Regard has more than doubled the number of diagnoses accepted by physicians since announcing two million patient diagnoses in January 2024, with the last one million occurring in just three months. Health systems utilizing Regard’s technology saw more than a 10 percent increase in comorbidities (CC) and major comorbidities (MCC) captured. By identifying and flagging these diagnoses for physicians to further investigate and ultimately approve or not, Regard’s technology ensures hospitals have a full picture of a patient’s health, protects revenue, and most importantly catches potential safety issues all while allowing the physician to retain full control over diagnosis and treatment.
“Regard empowers doctors by enabling them to easily harness the data in the EHR. When that happens, medical care improves,” said Eli Ben-Joseph, Regard CEO and Co-Founder. “I’m excited to see this growth curve continue as we expand our team and product and help physicians unlock the full power of the EHR.”
Amidst this major diagnosis milestone, Regard has named four members to its advisory board who will assist Regard in its mission to ensure every patient receives the highest quality care. These founding members have extensive and impressive experience in the healthcare, technology, and growth strategies field, and will provide a wealth of knowledge as the company accelerates growth and product development.
The members are:
- Mark Laret, President & CEO Emeritus, UCSF Health, 2000-2021
- Paul Black, Former CEO, Allscripts, 2012-2022
- Jeff Goldsmith, President, Health Futures, Inc, 1982-present
- Nancy Brown, General Partner, Oak HC/FT, 2014-present
“Clinical documentation is critical for clinicians and health systems, and Regard does the heavy lifting by identifying all diagnoses from lab, pathology and radiology — including now more than 5 million that were previously undocumented in the medical record,” said Mark Laret, former President & CEO of UCSF Health and a member of Regard’s board of directors. “By immediately creating actionable notes in the medical record, improving work flow for clinicians and appropriately driving health system quality scores and reimbursement, Regard is reducing workload and helping address physician burnout.”
