SecurityStudio Introduces S2SCHOOL Assessment to Prevent Risks

SecurityStudio, the provider of simplified solutions to secure organizations, employees and individuals, today announced the launch S2SCHOOL, a comprehensive information security assessment tool designed to help school districts, institutions and professional associations such as the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) identify cybersecurity risk then roadmap how to remediate the findings.

“K12 and higher education institutions are underserved communities when it comes to cyber – and information-security,” said Ryan Cloutier, principal security consultant at SecurityStudio. “Districts and schools need support to identify cyber risk and create a plan for remediating those risks, which can be challenging given large populations of students, increased number of devices and, commonly, a lack of knowledge about third-party risk. S2SCHOOL was designed to simplify this process so we can make sure our districts, schools, and higher education institutions are better protected from threats.”

S2SCHOOL is part of SecurityStudio’s S2 platform, which includes security assessments to address organization, vendor, employee, personal and school risk. Individuals and organizations that utilize the S2 platform are provided with a baseline S2SCORE, a consistent way to measure information security risk over time. With an initial S2SCORE, individuals and organizations can see how their security posture improves over time.

Professional associations such as CoSN have integrated S2SCHOOL to power their organizational risk assessment programs as part of broader cybersecurity initiatives. The resulting baseline S2SCORE helps organizations identify where improvements can be made, is free of charge and vendor-neutral and protects the privacy and security of school districts.

Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA, has been using SecurityStudio’s S2 Platform within their educational programs, including S2SCHOOL. “I use S2SCHOOL as an integral part of an assignment in my doctoral level Cybersecurity for Educational Leaders course,” said Jane Blanken-Webb, Ph.D. and assistant professor at Wilkes University. “The response has been tremendous! It guides educational leaders to consider where their school may be vulnerable and to reflect on why this is the case – thus cultivating a security mindset. It also empowers leaders to initiate vital conversations with technology staff, fostering an alliance grounded in the reality that cybersecurity is everyone’s job.”

SecurityStudio’s mission is to fix the broken information security industry while serving those most in need of protection, including K12 and higher education. The company recently introduced the K12 Cybersecurity Podcast, the first of its kind, to provide practical information that’s easy for school administrators, IT staff and educators to act on. The K12 Cybersecurity Podcast is available on Apple Podcasts, Spreaker, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Google Podcasts, Castbox, Deezer, Podcast Addict and Podchaser.
