Unicon, the leading provider of the Linux-based operating system eLux today announced the development of a new native Linux client that will enable eLux 7 to support both Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365. This built-in support for Microsoft cloud virtualization solutions will expand the options available for Unicon’s existing customers and unlock new possibilities for future customers.

The eLux operating system has provided a secure, stable, and cost-effective platform for desktop virtualization. Unicon’s continued commitment to innovation made it possible to engage with Microsoft to deliver new functionality in eLux 7 that retains the core capabilities of eLux while delivering a no-compromises user experience for customers interested in the benefits of working in the Microsoft cloud.

The new native client for eLux 7 makes it possible for Unicon customers to benefit from Azure Virtual Desktop features like Windows 11 and 10 multi-session, as well as the personalized, persistent Cloud PC experience delivered by Windows 365. The new eLux 7 client is now available as a public preview and will be introduced with the upcoming eLux 7 release.

Phillip Benkler, CEO of Unicon emphasizes the importance of eLux 7’s support for Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 to its customers: “The market for delivering cloud-based computing experiences to end users is changing dramatically. The new native AVD/Win 365-client for eLux 7 allows us to give customers more flexibility and functionality while still delivering the familiar and tested Linux OS experience users are accustomed to.”

Scott Manchester, Vice President of Product, Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 said: “eLux 7 support for Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 is a step forward in expanding the audience for cloud virtualization solutions.
