Redefining healthcare with AI-powered tools like Clair and OneDash, CaryHealth transforms patient care by bridging the gap between data and decision-making.
The healthcare system we inherited was a testament to stagnation. Outdated systems and inefficient processes have become the norm, forcing healthcare professionals into a perpetual struggle to meet the ever-growing demands of modern medicine. This environment was challenging for providers and frustrating for patients.
Archaic practices were inefficient and served as a glaring reminder of how far behind healthcare had fallen compared to other industries that had readily embraced newer technologies.
This realization led to the birth of CaryRx, which was co-founded by Nima Negahban, Kevin Lance and myself. We had a vision of revolutionizing the way pharmacy services were delivered. It started as a digital pharmacy focused on providing a seamless, patient-centric experience. CaryRx began what had never been done before – filling prescriptions to improve outcomes, adherence, and access.
There’s definitely been a shift over the past decade toward enhancing the user experience. You see it with companies like Uber and DoorDash, which transformed everyday services by focusing on how the experience was delivered. Pharmacies aren’t any different. At CaryHealth, we recognize that patients and healthcare providers expect more than just a good product. They expect a seamless, efficient, and reliable experience.
The tipping point came when we realized that pharmacies, the backbone of patient care, lacked the necessary tools to address complex clinical concerns swiftly and accurately. Clinicians only had access to outdated information and spent countless hours sifting through data. Even more concerning was the growing reliance on generic tools that, while promising, were not tailored to the nuanced needs of healthcare. This gap between technological capability and practical application was not just an inconvenience but a barrier to providing the level of care our patients deserved.
As we dug deeper into our solution, we realized this was not just about creating a better pharmacy for patients. There was a larger opportunity to improve the healthcare experience—increasing efficiency using the latest technologies, ultimately creating a digital infrastructure leveraging AI.
Leveraging AI into healthcare
Our mission began its true evolution with the introduction of our clinical health intelligence solution, Clair. Traditional offerings lack the ability to answer complex clinical questions in real-time with reliable, evidence-based information. And, the tools themselves are a pain to use.
Clair is designed to work specifically for healthcare professionals. It’s trained on the most up-to-date FDA inserts, clinical guidelines and 200 million clinical studies, Clair is continuously refreshed to ensure there is no lag between new accessible information for healthcare practitioners. Imagine being in a setting where you need an immediate answer to a question like, “What is the impact of Gemtesa on blood pressure? Or “What is a recommended treatment plan for an 85-year old with Diabetes, asthma, hypertension and renal failure?” Clair provides an accurate answer immediately, always with references. It’s a tool that fits naturally into the healthcare ecosystem and is extremely easy and natural to use.
Clinicians need a fast, reliable source of information to make informed decisions. Clair provides that, along with additional clinical reference tools like Clinical Summary, Drug Interactions, Antibiotic Stewardship, and Medication Therapy Management. This is a simple, accurate, and intuitive query solution for healthcare professionals.
Moving Toward Change
We didn’t stop with Clair. With a suite of products in mind, we decided to address pharmaceutical manufacturers, payers, systems and patients altogether.
The launch of OnLabel, our comprehensive medication information database, further solidified our commitment to providing accurate, accessible drug information to medical science liaisons, providers and field teams. OnLabel serves as a trusted resource, utilizing our proprietary search algorithm enabling accurate and concise answers, offering precision and clarity that’s often missing in the industry.
Beyond that, implementing OneDash, an integrated population health platform, has been revolutionary. OneDash optimizes workflows and enhances decision-making for healthcare payers, removing much of the inefficiency that has plagued the industry for years. It’s inspiring to see how technology can power better experiences—for patients and everyone involved in healthcare delivery.
What started as an idea for a better patient experience in pharmacy has evolved into a digital health tech company. CaryHealth is now bringing that same transformation to businesses across the healthcare spectrum. We’re creating the infrastructure to deliver on the promise of a truly innovative, patient-centric, data-driven healthcare experience.
