Bardeen raises $3.5M in Seed funding from 468 Capital and FirstMark Capital for its category defining proactive automation platform
Bardeen.ai, an emerging provider of “automation for all” tools, today exited stealth and announced the broad availability of its category defining proactive automation platform. Bardeen also announced an oversubscribed seed round from 468 Capital and FirstMark Capital.
Bardeen enables everyone to automate the many mundane and repetitive tasks that are part of our everyday life at work and beyond, such as copying information from apps into a spreadsheet, scraping data from the web, finding email addresses or reminding participants about an upcoming meeting.
Over the last decade or so, there has been an explosion of modern, well-designed tools that we all use at work every day, like Slack, Zoom, Google Sheets, Airtable, Twitter, and hundreds of others. However, as users, we have been left with the time-consuming and often mind-numbing task of constantly switching between those apps and moving data across them, many times each day.
Bardeen was designed as an easy-to-use platform to help orchestrate all our repetitive workflows across apps. Users simply download the Bardeen browser extension, and pick whichever tasks they want to automate from a broad range of options and playbooks. With Bardeen, we don’t have to work for our apps; instead we can finally fully make them work for us.
“As engineers and product leaders, we tend to think in terms of systems that can be optimized, and it was clear to us that the way we all go about our workdays is a vastly inefficient system with a lot of room for improvement,” said Pascal Weinberger, co-founder and CEO of Bardeen.ai. “We built Bardeen to remove these time-sinks, and give users the superpower to automate manual workflows with just one click. Things that can be done by machines should be done by machines, and that’s where our focus is.”
“From a technical standpoint, there’s a clear ‘why now’ that led to the creation of Bardeen,” said Artem Harutyunyan, co-founder and CTO at Bardeen.ai. “Browsers have become extremely sophisticated, feature rich and powerful platforms, and the timing is perfect to leverage their latest advances to make automation effortless and broadly available to just any Internet user.”
One Click Automations for Repetitive Tasks
Founded in 2020 by Artem Harutyunyan and Pascal Weinberger, Bardeen is an automation app that replaces repetitive tasks with a single shortcut, allowing users to control their web apps from anywhere. By empowering users to do what they are best at, which is problem-solving and creativity, Bardeen is delegating low-level tasks to technology. Bardeen helps professionals:
- Stay in the flow: Bardeen allows users to control their software tools on their own terms, at all times. Focus is the most valuable resource for users. Bardeen is designed to minimize interruptions and context switching, allowing users to invoke automation with the “option + .” keyboard shortcut, with no additional tabs opened or countless login forms.
- Make the internet (actually) connected: The internet was meant to be very connected. However, 96% of information is locked behind logins, registration forms and paywalls. This has created information silos, where tens of software tools used daily are disconnected from one another. Bardeen helps users connect their favorite tools and eliminate needless copy-pasting of information.
- Share the best workflows: Finding the most effective ways to perform tasks takes a lot of time and mental energy. Bardeen is designed to give users pre-built automation, called “playbooks”, that can be leveraged in just one click. Every user can also create their own playbooks and share them with coworkers and the community – enabling innovation through collaboration.
- Automate the automations: Bardeen’s long-term vision is to detect automatable patterns in user’s workflows and suggest automations where and when they need it, to ultimately remove the friction from the automation journey. Currently the tool suggests suitable automations to the user based on their context.
Investor Matt Turck, Managing Partner at FirstMark Capital, describes the opportunity: “Over the last few years, enterprises have poured billions of dollars into Robotic Processing Automation (RPA) to automate their backend systems. But, if you look at what we all do at work every day, we’re all badly in need of our own RPA. We spend so much time and mental energy on simple tasks that could be automated. My experience so far with the Bardeen product has been magical, and it’s been a thrill to work with visionary product leaders like Pascal and Artem.”
Florian Leibert, Founding Partner at 468 Capital, adds “Bardeen is well on its way to become the leading no-code automation platform solving a problem that more than 4 billion internet users face every day juggling their workflows across multiple apps and websites. We believe the ease of use, as well as the proactive automation suggestions, will be a game changer for the industry.”
Bardeen’s platform comes with integrations to the most commonly used tools like G-Suite, Jira, Slack, Trello, Notion, Airtable, Coda and many more, including it’s own built-in tools like a powerful website data scraper and AI modules for OCR, text-to-speech and more. The platform ships with hundreds of pre-build “Playbooks” which can be instantly used by new users to automate their workflows with just one click. Users can also easily customize or build their own Playbook from scratch to share with their friends and colleagues. The platform is currently free to use, with paid feature plans and solutions for teams and enterprise customers coming soon.
User quote
“I’ve tried several workflow automation tools and they’ve all been too confusing to even get started. Now, I use Bardeen almost daily. My job requires a lot of manual data inputs and Bardeen has saved me time and energy by making it as easy as a click of a button. It is multi-purpose, customizable, and effective. I highly recommend to anyone that wastes time clicking back and forth between tabs or has a very busy schedule,” said Alissa C., Operations at One Way Ventures.
