ABP Tech Announces IoT Sensors for Post-COVID Workplace Operations

Add the Kentix SmartXcan to your COVID-19 preparation for returning to the workplace. ABP Technology is the U.S. distributor for the German-made IoT sensor for the screening of elevated skin/body temperature. The Kentix SmartXcan offers automated, safe, and intuitive pre-screening, providing contactless skin surface temperature measurement with high precision – measuring over 1,000 points – and high throughput of over 500 people/hour. Easy to install with simple and flexible wall mounting or on a custom stand and can be controlled via the network in real time and can be attached to existing access control for doors or turnstiles.

ABP Technology, a specialty distributor for IP technology, announced the U.S. launch of the German-made IoT sensor for the screening of elevated skin/body temperature. The new Kentix SmartXcan is a highly accurate IR sensor with embedded intelligence to help institute effective post-COVID-19 operations.

“It’s essential that businesses take a proactive approach to ensuring office space safety when resuming operations in a post-COVID-19 environment, and a super simple to use and highly reliable pre-screening device and make a difference” said ABP Tech President, Robert Messer. “Quickly being able to effectively screen for elevated skin temperature readings of anyone entering buildings – be it employees or guests – is an effective way to combat the spread of not only COVID but also seasonal afflictions like influenza, guaranteeing a high long-term value for all SmartXcan installations. Our German supplier Kentix has had great success in producing environmental sensors to protect critical infrastructure in businesses and this new series of thermal imaging sensors is just what is needed as we all adapt to the new normal.”

The Kentix SmartXcan offers automated, safe, and intuitive pre-screening. The SmartXcan provides contactless skin surface temperature measurement with high precision – measuring over 1,000 points. The intuitive system offers self-explanatory user guidance and intelligent sensor technology. It’s easy to install with simple and flexible wall mounting or on a custom stand, can be controlled via the network in real-time, and can be attached to existing access control for doors or turnstiles. Because the SmartXcan offers a reading in seconds, it has a very high throughput of over 500 people per hour per device.

The Kentix SmartXcan is a complete system – selling for under $1,000, not including installation – that includes a wall bracket and mounting material. Only a network connection with PoE is required. Via the network connection and an integrated HTTPS web server, the device can be accessed by authorized personnel remotely at any time. As a result, configuration changes or updates can be carried out very easily.

“SmartXcan is designed, developed, and built-in Germany according to IEC standards for body temperature measurement and is a superior method for this very highly sensitive and critical application. The fully automated and simple measurement process makes the difference and is designed to support privacy and data protection rules during and after the pandemic” said Jan Sanders, VP Sales of Kentix GMBh.

“Kentix has been a leader in developing high-end IoT and environmental sensing solutions to protect critical assets like in-house data centers, IT equipment, vaults, and the like,” said Messer. “What higher and more valuable assets are there to protect then a place’s people? Kentix will be one more element in the protocol for reopening and reducing risk. It will be comforting to businesses looking to reopen and maintain operations post-COVID, to know that they have a reliable method to pre-screen elevated temperature with the Kentix SmartXcan and resume operations in as safe an environment as possible.”
