First-ever hearing aid with on-board deep neural network recognized for excellence
Hearing aid manufacturer Oticon, Inc. is once again being recognized for excellence in the research, design, and development of innovative hearing aid technology. Oticon More™, the company’s flagship hearing device, has been named a winner of the 2021 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Awards, the 2021 MedTech Breakthrough Awards, and the Red Dot Design Awards, adding to an already impressive resume of industry honors.
Oticon More made its debut at the all-digital CES 2021, where it was named a CES® 2021 Innovation Awards Honoree in the Health & Wellness and Wearable Technologies categories. The hearing aid is the first-ever built with an on-board deep neural network (DNN). Trained on more than 12 million real-life sounds, the DNN gives the human brain more of the information it needs to decipher relevant sounds. This results in a fuller, more natural representation of sound that improves the way hearing aid wearers listen and understand in complex listening situations.
“Oticon More brings the power and promise of deep learning to the hearing care industry,” said Gary Rosenblum, President of Oticon. “With its built-in DNN, Oticon More represents a radical new approach to sound processing that enables better hearing and speech understanding for people with hearing loss. We’re honored to be recognized for our innovation, and we remain committed to developing life-changing technology that improves the quality of life for those with hearing loss.”
These award wins are a testament to Oticon’s forward-thinking research, design, and innovative technology. The honors are:
- 2021 Artificial Intelligence Excellence Award: Product
- 2021 MedTech Breakthrough Awards: Best New Technology Solution – Hearing Aid
- Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2021
