Smartling Appoints Olga Beregovaya, as VP of Machine Translation & AI

Beregovaya to drive growth for company’s global Neural Machine Translation & AI business strategy

Smartling, the enterprise translation company, today announced the appointment of Olga Beregovaya as Vice President of Machine Translation and Artificial Intelligence. Beregovaya will bring her nearly three decades of translation industry experience to further elevate Smartling’s position as the world’s top provider of AI enabled Translation software and services.

Beregovaya joins Smartling after spending 11 years as VP of AI Innovation at Welocalize, one of the world’s leading Language Service Providers (LSP) superagencies. During her tenure, Beregovaya drove the company’s AI strategy from technology research and development through deployment and execution. Prior to Welocalize, Beregovaya held several key leadership positions, including President of the American Machine Translation Association and CEO of PROMT Americas. Beregovaya is also devoted to diversity in the field, serving as a board member of Women in Localization and as an Advisor for Engineering Leadership at California State University.

“Olga has long been a visionary in Translation & Localization, applying her tremendous insight, experience, and passion for AI and Machine Translation to creating real outcomes for customers,” said Bryan Murphy, Smartling’s CEO. “We’re excited to welcome her to Smartling’s leadership team, and I know that all of us will benefit from her leadership and expertise.”

Beregovaya is one of the leading voices in the development and deployment of language technologies, Natural Language Processing (NLP), machine learning, content transformation and AI data processing thanks to the extensive impact she’s had over 25 years of experience. With her background as both buyer and supplier, Beregovaya offers a unique perspective of establishing strategic buyer/supplier alliances and designing cost-effective global content lifecycle programs. Both experiences will be invaluable to Smartling as it continues to scale globally.

“I’m very excited to join Smartling and lead the company’s strategy around the new ways we think about delivering words. Smarting has been revolutionizing the way translation is done using AI enabled cloud technology,” Beregovaya stated. “We are leading the next phase of that revolution as we move the quality of neural machine translation output to that of human translation, and AI predictions are becoming increasingly accurate. I’m thrilled to become a part of the journey with Smartling, a true leader and innovator in this space.”
