Independent Testing of Seven Leading SSE Vendors Earns Versa Impressive Security Results, Including for Exploit Protection, Evasion Resistance, and False Positive Accuracy
Versa, the global leader in Universal Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), today announced that Versa Security Service Edge (SSE) received a Recommended rating from CyberRatings.org, its highest rating, based on independent testing performed by NSS Labs. In the Q2 2025 SSE comparative report summarizing the test results, Versa achieved an overall security effectiveness of 99.98% while tying for the highest false positive accuracy among the seven vendors tested.
“Testing helps organizations make informed decisions,” said Vikram Phatak, CEO of CyberRatings.org. “Versa’s security effectiveness, false positive accuracy, and throughput performance prove it is an excellent Security Service Edge.”
Comparative Test Results for Security and False Positive Accuracy
Cisco, Cloudflare, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Skyhigh Security, Zscaler, and Versa were the seven SSE vendors whose products were put through a battery of tests. In the testing, Versa SSE achieved:
- High Security Effectiveness – An overall Security Effectiveness rating of 99.98% with 100% achievement for TLS/SSL Support, Malware Evasions Resistance, Exploit Block Rate, and Exploit Evasions Resistance.
- High False Positive Accuracy – Versa’s 99.87% performance tied for the highest result in the test.
- 100% in Exploit Protection – Versa SSE earned 100% for exploit protection against CVEs in all categories (critical, high, medium and low), as well as 100% in a test of exploits targeting applications and protocols of the top 10 vendors in the market.
“This latest CyberRatings report summarizing the results from NSS Labs’ testing reinforces what our customers already know – Versa delivers a top-tier SSE solution with unmatched security efficacy and performance,” said Dan Maier, Chief Marketing Officer at Versa. “Whether you’re securing cloud, hybrid, or high-performance environments, Versa is the faster, smarter, and more secure choice.”
Highest HTTPS Throughput Performance
In addition to the security performance results from the latest report, data from a CyberRatings test report published in Q4 2024 showed that Versa SSE achieved a peak HTTPS throughput rate of 3,253 Mbps, the fastest rate among all vendors tested in 2024.
Independent Testing Lab Process
CyberRatings provides transparency and expert guidance on cybersecurity risks through its research and independent product testing conducted by NSS Labs. During Q2 of this year, NSS Labs tested the selected SSE products using the Security Service Edge Threat Protection Methodology v2.1. The products were evaluated to assess how they handled TLS/SSL 1.2 and 1.3 cipher suites, how they defended against 205 exploits and 6,184 malware samples, and whether any of 1,154 evasions across 37 categories could bypass their protection — all while measuring their level of false positive accuracy.
CyberRatings.org’s resultant Comparative Security Map (CSM) conveys the relative capabilities of product offerings by mapping tested products’ security effectiveness on one axis and false positive accuracy as a measurable proxy for operational overhead on the other.
