Virtual Health Selected to Support Care Management Program

VirtualHealth’s HELIOS platform will now be used for a majority of Medicaid enrollees in North Carolina

VirtualHealth today announced that Vaya Health (Vaya) has selected the HELIOS®platform to support care management for Medicaid members across the 22 North Carolina counties that Vaya serves. Vaya, a public managed care organization (MCO) offering behavioral health and intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD) services, chose the HELIOS platform after performing a comprehensive market analysis.

As North Carolina shifts its Medicaid program from a predominately fee-for-service delivery system to integrated managed care, VirtualHealth will provide the technology infrastructure needed to assure Vaya’s successful transition to a Tailored Plan beginning July 1, 2022. Through Tailored Care Management, Medicaid beneficiaries will have a designated care manager supported by a multidisciplinary care team to address physical health, behavioral health, I/DD, traumatic brain injuries, pharmacy, long-term services and supports (LTSS) and unmet health-related resource needs.

“Our goal was to find a technology partner with the solutions to optimally support data-driven, person-centered care and VirtualHealth’s platform consistently rose to the top of our rankings,” said Robert Webb, executive vice president and CIO of Vaya. “The HELIOS platform has a proven track record in North Carolina for integrating data sources, delivering intelligent workflows and driving care team efficiencies, which we believe will improve the effectiveness of our care teams and, ultimately, the quality of care delivered to our members.”

The HELIOS platform is designed to ingest data from across the healthcare ecosystem, including both clinical and social determinants of health, to intelligently analyze this information in real time, and automatically serve up the next best action to care managers for the right patients at the right time. This approach is based on VirtualHealth’s mission of using cutting edge technology to make healthcare more proactive for all.

“We look forward to empowering Vaya’s care managers with the tools and resources needed to deliver exceptional care to vulnerable populations across the state,” said Adam Sabloff, CEO of VirtualHealth. “We applaud North Carolina’s dedication to Medicaid transformation and are thrilled to be partnering with innovative MCOs like Vaya in making this initiative a reality.”

In addition to this partnership with Vaya, VirtualHealth supports Community Care of North Carolina and WellCare Health Plans, totaling over 2 million members across the state. Beyond North Carolina, VirtualHealth proudly supports nearly 10 million Medicaid, Medicare, and Commercial enrollees residing in all 50 states.
