The AdvancedMD electronic medication administration record (eMAR) is fully unified within the AdvancedMD EHR ecosystem
AdvancedMD, a provider of cloud-based healthcare software for independent medical practices, today announced the launch of the AdvancedMD Electronic Medication Administration Record (eMAR) that simplifies medication workflows. Integrated directly within the AdvancedMD EHR platform, the eMAR solution is designed specifically for behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, long-term care, and specialty clinical environments.
The AdvancedMD eMAR serves as a central hub for medication scheduling, administration, and documentation. Prescriptions written within the AdvancedMD ePrescribing and EPCS tools flow directly into the eMAR and are automatically scheduled and displayed within the dashboard—making it possible for providers to see what medications are due, overdue, completed, or unresolved.
According to AdvancedMD CEO Amanda Sharp, “Our eMAR solution unlocks a whole new level of efficiency for providers caring for those most in need. We’ve created a solution within our EHR platform that supports existing workflows. It is a modern-day solution that delivers flexibility without unnecessary complexity or high administrative costs.”
In addition to its core capabilities, key features of AdvancedMD eMAR include:
- Bed management and census control: Tools to track patient room and bed assignments for inpatient services, along with admission, transfer, and discharge activities.
- Medication inventory management: Accurate, real-time medication inventory tracking at both the facility and patient level, with automation that records when medications are received, dispensed, transferred, returned, lost, or reconciled to support controlled substance accountability and shift-change verification.
- Automated medication dispensing capabilities:Ideal for behavioral health, substance use disorder, and methadone treatment centers with medication inventory levels that update in real time, reducing dispensing errors and accelerating medication management workflows.
- Methadone and SUD-specific medication workflows: Purpose-built to support methadone and substance use disorder (SUD) medication workflows, including direct integration with methadone-dispensing machines, bottle-level inventory tracking, and take-home dose management with DEA-compliant labeling. It also includes central registry-aligned reporting for SUD programs, and meets federal, state, and program-level compliance requirements.
- Reporting and audit readiness: Equipped with robust reporting tools to support DEA measures and audit readiness, offering reports on medication administration histories, controlled substance inventory, and reconciliation, and more.
- Patient observation, vitals, and nutrition tracking: Supports comprehensive patient monitoring capabilities, including scheduled patient observations, vitals documentation, and nutrition tracking.
- Intelligent messaging and alerts: Built-in notifications can alert providers when medications, appointments, and follow-ups are missed. Notifications can be sent via email or text to providers, administrators, or patients based on role-based rules and permissions.
